Last days work

Work in AIESEC is great and amazing, but sometimes it takes more time then you’ve just planned. Whole day long spent on updating of our LC Kyiv’s site and on delivering of posters to our National Branding Team. Talking about last one – working on them really gave me a great pleasure, I loved the subject what is branding and advertising are all about. This work makes you feel creative and contributing to world.

What can be better?

From time to time, when I do not have enough concentration for work to do I review some videos or ppts that give me motivatian. One of the ppts is very known in AIESEC and it is called “Sunscreen” and it consists of general advices how to live. One of the slides that I remember pretty well was only with one word “Travel”. Just travel. When you travel you meet new people, who broad your worldview, you have an opportunity to look at your routine things from another angle, share your own experience and get a feedback. As for I am really passionate about IT, I always want to share my knowledge in that sphere, so that people make their life’s easier, more exciting and challenging. So, I when I had an opportunity to go to Kirovohrad to make a training I had no hesitations.

There is direct train to this city, but when you go out from train in the morning and see that there is only one carriage and it looks pretty funny. The architecture in Kirovohrad is not so pretty, especially, the central square, but the Lenin street, that starts near it is just amazing – it reminds Western Ukrainian cities – Lviv and Chernivtsi.

Soon after my arrival I was met by VP PD of AIESEC in Kirovohrad Katya and the official part of my visit began. We went to nice place that is near Kirovohrad – to Berezhynka, where nature is beautiful and it was really fascinating experience. The training I delivered was a part of my new training about Web 2.0 conceptionwhat today’s internet looks like and how it can be working on you (for example, one of our favorite things – blogs and podcasts are from Web 2.0 conception). The training was a kind of conversation between me and listeners that I liked very much. From time to time we talked about personal development, lucid dreaming and other interesting stuff  I learned about not long ago. After that we had a talk with LCP Angela and VP PD Katya about what IS in Kyiv and Ukraine looks like, in what way it may help the development of Kirovohrad’s committee. I was delighted about persistence and confidence of Angela, cause it was my first private conversation with her. She reminded me our dear LCP in some way. As for VP PD, I think almost everybody from active AIESEC members knows she’s pretty funny and serious person. Luckily for me, I’ve taken some discs (podcasts, training, ppts etv) with me, so it was not only help in words for LC Kirovohrad.

As for one of private conversation, one of my talks was with guy (everyone called him Dosja) as I just described a little bit what AIESEC is, which opportunities it gives and how IT is perspective. So, really-really hope to see more ITified ( my own word, I’ve created just now, comes from electrified :) ) LC’s and some more experienced specialist in out National IS Team…

Thanks for LC Kyiv for an opportunity to travel and support Kirovohrad!!! They have a great future so let’s give them a hand of help!!!

I am really looking forward to the start of new year and hope to deliver full training “Web 2.0 or how to make internet to work for you” for our LC Kyiv Members.

Still, Kyiv is the best !!! :)))

A few words about my workplace. As you reading this blog, I think that you are spending some part of your life online, just as I do… So, it is obvious, that your place in front of computer needs to be clean, tidy and equipped. Yes, equipped. Just put some things near you you might need while doing your work, so you do not need to stay up to do something. Here are some examples of my “equipment”. I think that it won’t be “discovering America for you, but I just want to share :)

  • Water. A glass of water stands near me all time I work on computer. In many magazines (such as “Men’s Health” or “Cosmo”) it is written, that “if you want to loose some weight (or just have good metabolism) you need to drink just about 2 liters of water per day. Yeah, I knew it but then I asked myselt: “Why don’t I do so?” Because, I do not have a glass of water near me all the time. It is very stupid to stand up and go to kitchen just when you want to have one gulp. So, now I am writing this message, gulping water from time to time :)

  • Post-it note. You have to write something from time to time – address, phone, link, thought – anything, and when you have a number of post-it notes near you the one problem (“where”) goes away. Furthermore, when you do something (for example, writing a blog message :) ) it is very useful just to plan it before you do it. For example, post-it note with plan of my message (a glass of water – post-it note – stationery – lotion – music – armchair – fruits, now you know it all :) ), so you don’t need to always think: “What’s next?”… OK, what’s next? :)

  • Stationery. Yep, very useful stuff. All that pens, markers, scissors, gums, scotch tape (!),loose-leaf binders, paper-clips need to be in one place not to be searching all the house yelling “Where is that paper clip?” :)

  • Lotion… Very amazing, but when I have lotion with cotton wool right near me, I more often clean my face not to have pimples and all that stuff.
  • Music. Very important. Right music gives you subconscious enjoyment from your work, you just enjoying doing anything, cause it gives you pleasure :) But, it is also important to understand when to put different kinds of music. For example, now in my player plays music, that was brought by my sister’s friend from USA – it is light dance music without words. This is very energetic and words do not disturb you while your mind is thinking. But when you have machinery work to do (without need of heavy thinking) you can put nice music with words (I prefer rap :) )… Another interesting fact I’ve mentioned is that the music with your native language disturbs you much more than with foreign one… Just to know when to put :)

  • Armchair.  You know what? From yesterday I have great office armchair near my computer… And it is enjoyable!!! If you do not have one just buy – cause this is very-very useful stuff. And by the way it is very good for your back.

  • Fruits. I’ve give this advice for dessert :) Why not to put a dish with fruits near you and eat them from time to time? It is tasty, useful and nice!!! (o-o, I have just stones in my dish now, so I’ll try to end up this message to go to kitchen and have more fruits :) )…

So, that’s all for now. Hope you forgive me for such a week of silence and read all this message. If you’ve found something useful, hope to see some comments.

See ya!

Hi, my friends! In this message I would like to tell you about the fact, that IT are becoming more and more understandable for people. That's, first of all, conception of Web 2.0 (described in article of Tim O'Really) and this is shown in more and more stuff. Here are some of them I've mention not long ago:

    •  After deinstalling nice e-mail client Mozilla Thunderbird, the authors of this software propose to "Tell us what you thought about Mozilla Thunderbird" and you can write them e-mail by clicking just one button. Nice idea of feedback!
    • Lots of expirienced internet users have not one, but several logins, so sometimes it is hard to remember which of the logins you should put in the current service, but most of us have one primary e-mail, which we won't forget. So, it is not difficult to use e-mail as login. That's is done by lots of new services, to name some of them. voo2do.com or manager-tools.com
    • It was very crazy stuff, when I saw two different versions of one programm - for male and female users. Very strange, but it exists and works!!! check out new feature from TGSoft. By the way, nice programm, I use it with great pleasure.
    • New version of ICQ allows you to login as "Invisible", so nobody can see you and Live Messanger allows you to be seen off-line, but still write messanges to your friends.
So, is IT becoming more "For people"?
